In normal people, prolonged sleep disturbances will result in changes in the biological sleep cycle, decreased endurance and decreased fatigue, which in turn can affect the safety of oneself or others. Plant genjers that have long been used by the Indonesian people, phytochemical compounds containing genjer (L. Flava), from the crude extract of detected genera include steroids, saponins, reducing sugars and phenol hydroquinone. Saponins work by lowering surface tension and the adsorption theory in general anesthesia states that if there is a collection of substances (saponins) on the cell surface, it can also cause metabolic processes and neural transmission to interfere with anesthesia. The sedation effect test method used was Forced swimming test and Tail suspension test and analyzed the Immobility time of the mouse by observing the positive control group with a dose of diazepam (0.39 mg / gBB) and treatment according to the dose that has been set in three dosage quantities is dose 1 (143 mg /  gBB), dose 2 (214 mg / gBB) and dose 3 (283 mg / gBB) of each extract. From the results of the study, it was obtained in the testing of forced swimming method. Negative control (248.3 seconds). positive control (546.6 seconds), stem dose 1 (224.6 seconds), stem dose 2 (128.6 seconds),


stem dose 3 (323.3 seconds), leaf dose 1 (295 seconds), leaf dose 2 (118 seconds), leaf dose 3 (71.3 seconds), then from the results of research on the Tail suspension test method Positive control (163 seconds). Negative control (127.3 seconds), stem dose 1 (224 seconds), stem 2


(209.6 seconds), stem 3 (114 seconds), leaf dose 1 (230.3 seconds), leaf 2 (160.6 seconds), leaf 3 (184.4 seconds). Leaf dose 1 has had a miled effect on contracting in each method and decrease in every subsequent increase in the next, whereas in the stem dose for 1 and 2 doses, the Tail suspension test has resulted effect for Forced swimming test stem dose 3wich is more notable for the sedation effect and the lower dosage increases by increasing the addition mice mobility, might be a factor habit and method of use.
